Chapter I - pocket world

Hi,

My name is Vi, and i am an Yatri. This is all I remember clearly from the place i came from. I no longer remember the places i used to live in before i came here. The people who took care of me or my friends but i am writing this as my fee to my master... though he will deny he is my master.. but one must humor old people to get answers from them. so here it goes..

 First a context....

Time is not fixed. Once upon a time a meteor hit the earth. The meteor was the size of a football. This meteor was not space debris but a stone thrown at this planet. Due to unknown circumstances, the stone broke to pieces on falling to earth and since then this world has pocket worlds. Places in the world which are removed from time in some sort or another. Different timelines follow different in different worlds. Some are stuck in modern era, some in medival, some in tribal. Magic is prevalent in some, Technology is prevalent in some but though it exists in pockets it influences you directly by the proximity and actions in those worlds.

Travellers are the people who travel between these pocket worlds bringing thieir influence and experience to affect the world in their journeys. A travellers journey begins when he is drawn to a certain cultural influence either conciously or sub conciously. They gain an artifact through their experience which lets them travel to a pocket world suitable to thier beliefs and experiences. I am a traveller from earth. I started my journey to the pathiklok, a school of yatris/travllers a year back when I was 12 I think. 

I gained an artifact which was an ancient ring. The wierd part about this ring was that it had no insignia but a plain surface. This was not how I came to know it was an artifact. At certain times it glowed and had patterns on it which was never discernable. Following the paths when it glowed allowed me to come into this pocket world. On the way here I learnt that in his world, magilic exits and evolves, there are thinking animals, thoughtful buildings, nimble elves, sturdy dwarves, humans and other races. The dominance of the races depended on the king who ruled the pocket before but now it exists in a delicate peace between all the people who co-exist. The pathiklok is a school where everyone is thought "equally". But where exists use, there exists misuse. The peace has brought some prosperity to the pocket as a whole but it has stfiled the egos and greed and with no outlet for those emotions, the peace may crumble.

The headmasters of the school have decided to give a vent for these emotions through a yearly challenge where individuals/teams challenge each other which decides the privileges for the coming year. The previlege includes the first pick of resources to them and the vote for granting permission and previlege to others. Since the beginning, the like minded people have banded together to deny previlege to those whome they consider unworthy.

Due to these teams, the new students always want to join a group to get more advantages and try to rob the other groups of new students.the easiest way to do that is to not work hard on beating other groups in yearly challenge  but to steal the artifact of new comers if they are not compatible with other groups as they won't be given access to school without it. Also without the artifacts, the new comers will not be able to stay in this pocket world. 

There are some people who stay in this pocket without influencing the main world. They are born and brought up in pocket world and cannot leave the Same to influence in external world.hence they are relegated as resources but are not thaught the same things as other students.

In the school, the teaching is divided into various classes like species study, influences, magical spells, science, survival which are generic and also assigned to a mentor under whom you can specialise in his subject of expertise.
